Yoga

Yoga is another activity that has a wide spread of advantages for young children. Not only does it develop their flexibility, coordination and strength, but also with their wellbeing, sense-of-self and calmness.

There are many yoga moves that aren't appropriate for young children, but here are some we have found to not only be achievable poses but also to work well as a flow.

Cloud pose

Sit on your bottom with your legs crossed and hands together

 Cat pose

Move onto your hands and knees and spread your fingers really wide. Look between your arms at your tummy

Cow pose

​

Dip your belly down and lift your nose to the sky

 Crocodile pose

Keep your hands on the mat and step your feet back. Tuck your toes and make your legs and back into one straight line

Dog pose

Now lift your bottom to the sky. Place your head between your arms and look at your toes

Mountain pose

Stand up, make your big toes touch each other and reach up really tall, right up to the sky

Seed pose

Now come back down to the mat, with toes still touching, knees together and place your hands down by your feet. Place your head on the mat in front of you.

Star-gazer pose

Finish by moving onto your back, legs straight and your hands by your side. Breathe in and out slowly and relax.
